MAKE INDONESIA MORE RESPECTED AND PROSPEROUS WITH BRICS

Regarding to Indonesia's development as a full member of BRICS and the formation of a multipolar world, the Global Thinkers Institute (GTI) held an idea sharing session with the Russian embassy in Indonesia, Monday, January 27, 2024. Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov, Russian Ambassador for Indonesia, said that BRICS is a strategic forum to strengthen relations between Indonesia and Russia and fellow BRICS members at all levels.

Muhammad Ma'ruf, director of GTI, believes that Indonesia's full membership in BRICS is a strategic initial step to implement more progressive and rapid cooperation. The Indonesian government needs to be supported by all levels of society. Increasing cooperation among BRICS members, not only exclusively economic, but simultaneously with cooperation in the fields of science, education and culture.

Cooperation must be based on the value of equality between nations and respected countries, regardless of developed and developing countries, rich or poor. Emphasis only on the economy will make cooperation in other fields unequal. BRICS must be a strategic tool for the Indonesian nation to become a more respected and prosperous nation.

Among the GTI researchers present were Gerry, an Antarctic researcher, Dede, a researcher on international law and economics, and Wardah, a researcher and activist on religious moderation.
