DR. CONNIE ; VISION OF VALDAI CLUB VS CSIS

Dr. Connie Rahakundini Bakrie, as the initiator shared ideas with the Global Thinkers Institute (GTI), about the significance and vision of the creation of the Valdai Club Moscow-Jakarta, 8/21/2024. According to her, the "Valdai Discussion Club" is different with Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Throughout her experience at the Valdai Club, Russia as the host treated all speakers from all over the world to think freely, there was no specific direction, egalitarian and respected the sovereignty of each country representative as expected by Sukarno. Her vision is a Multipolar World View, not carrying a new hegemony. The future of the world is not only determined by the Western bloc, but is determined by many poles (regions), Asia, Africa, Latin America, Russia, China, the Indies, the Islamic World, Western Europe, and Eastern Europe. All must be heard.

While CSIS, a think tank that is designed tends to be Unipolar and is directed at strengthening Western hegemony. Connie hopes that the Valdai Club Russia-Jakarta will bring a positive direction for the formation of a more open, egalitarian and mutually respectful geopolitical cognition of the Indonesian people.

In addition, President-elect Prabowo is expected to be able to capture and implement a more rational, progressive, and open geopolitical vision towards the ideas of the Valdai Club Russia-Jakarta “soft power” products.

Since the Valdai Discussion Club was founded in 2004, it has entered its 20th year by 2024. Based in Russia, it is named after Lake Valdai, near Veliky Novgorod, Russia, where the club’s first meeting took place.
